The RCMP confirmed March 19 that there are no no presumptive or confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the RCMP Academy in Regina. They are, however, considering suspending training at the academy.
RCMP Depot Division says it continues to work closely with provincial and national health agencies to monitor and respond to the situation. They said any decision to suspend training will be made in consultation with the federal and provincial health authorities.
As an emergency response agency, the RCMP have protocols and procedures that deal with these types of health situations and are continually assessing those processes.
In order to slow the spread of COVID-19, the RCMP Academy has taken measures, including closing the academy to visitors since March 13.
All public events at the RCMP Academy have been postponed including the RCMP Charity Ball and the YQR VetRun.
Employees who can work from home have been encouraged to do so. All fitness facilities and the Division Mess have been closed to employees in order to minimize contact with cadets.
