Murder charge laid in suspicious death in Warman

UPDATE: On July 2, at approximately 4 p.m., Warman RCMP received a missing persons complaint for 23-year old female, Samandeep Jhinger. Warman RCMP immediately began an investigation. Further information was received and on July 3, 2020, at 5:00 a.m.

UPDATE: On July 2, at approximately 4 p.m., Warman RCMP received a missing persons complaint for 23-year old female, Samandeep Jhinger. 

Warman RCMP immediately began an investigation. Further information was received and on July 3, 2020, at 5:00 a.m. Samandeep was located deceased at a residence on the 200 block of 3rd Street West in Warman, Saskatchewan. Her death was considered suspicious. 

42-year old Ranbir Dhull of Saskatoon was arrested and has been charged with one count, First-Degree Murder - S. 235(1) of the Criminal Code, and has been remanded for a first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday, July 6 at 9 am.

Ranbir was known to the deceased. 

An autopsy for Samandeep is scheduled to take place in Saskatoon on Tuesday, July 7.

Due to the ongoing investigation, Warman residents will continue to see an increased police presence around 3rd St W.

The RCMP Major Crime Unit North continues to be assisted by Warman RCMP, Saskatoon FIS, Saskatoon Provincial GIS, Saskatoon Police Service, and the Office of the Chief Coroner. 

BACKGROUND: The RCMP Major Crimes Unit North along with officers from the Warman RCMP Detachment and Forensic Identification Services Unit are on the scene of a suspicious death that occurred on the 200 block of 3rd Street West in Warman.

 

One person is in custody and there is no known threat to the public.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area for the rest of the day.

The investigation is ongoing and updates provided as the progression of the investigation allows.
