A Saskatchewan man accused of possessing and accessing child porn had three appearances in Estevan Provincial Court since his arrest in October with the matter being adjourned to give him time to get a lawyer.

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) arrested Vernon J. Zelionka, 45, of Redvers, Oct. 7. The ICE unit consists of investigators from the RCMP, Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert Municipal Police Services. They investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.

According to police, they launched an investigation in August into the online accessing of child porn through file sharing networks. In October members of the ICE unit and Carlyle RCMP raided a residence in Redvers, which was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Police found child porn at the residence and seized two computers and a cell phone for further forensic analysis.

Zelionka was released on bail on numerous conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court Dec. 9.
