Sask. penitentiary escapees apprehended by Saskatoon police

These inmates had been unlawfully at large from the minimum security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary since Oct. 4.

The Correctional Service Canada would like to thank the Saskatoon Police Service for apprehending these inmates.

CSC is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.

BACKGROUND: On October 4, 2019, during the 10 p.m. count in the minimum security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary, staff members discovered that Noah Lemaigre-Elliott and Jesse Favel were not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada immediately contacted the Prince Albert Police Service and the RCMP and a warrant for their arrest has been issued.

Prince Albert RCMP believes Favel and Lemaigre-Elliot can be dangerous and advises they are not to be approached.

Favel and Lemaigre-Elliot are suspected to have left the Riverbend Institution of the Saskatchewan Penitentiary on foot between 8 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Friday. 

RCMP say It is believed they could be in Prince Albert or on their way to Yorkton, La Loche or Saskatoon, where they have connections.

Noah Lemaigre-Elliott is 19 years old, measures 185 cm (6'1") in height and weighs 71 kg (157 lbs). He has a medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair. He is currently serving a sentence of 2 years, 9 months, and 21 days for assault with a weapon, fail to comply with conditions of undertaking/recognizance, possess a weapon for dangerous purposes, and possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition.

Jesse Favel is 20 years old, measures 180 cm (5"11") in height and weighs 88 kg (194 lbs).  He has a medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair. He is currently serving a sentence of 2 years, 8 months, and 29 days for robbery.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Noah Lemaigre-Elliott or Jesse Favel is asked to contact police.

CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offenders as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all of the information available to help arrest the inmates.
