HUMBOLDT — An online service will mark the third anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos collision.

The service, to be streamed live from the St. Augustine Catholic Church starting at 4:30 p.m. on April 6, will include live performances by local musical artists and a candle lighting ceremony.

Church bells will toll, followed by a moment of silence taking place at approximately 4:50 p.m., the approximate date and time of the crash. Citizens are encouraged to join in the moment of silence.

“We are tremendously grateful for everyone who will take a moment on April 6 to remember the tragedy that struck home for so many people,” said Michael Behiel, Humboldt’s mayor.

“In turn, we are thinking of all of those who have been affected not only by this tragedy but by the pandemic that has claimed so many lives in the past year. It is times like these that we need one another. Always believe there is hope and remain resilient.”

The church will not be open to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions.

As well, the city will update its 2017-18 Humboldt Broncos tribute website at humboldt.ca/tribute with new photos.

The Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery will host an online exhibit featuring the outpouring of gifts of love and support that have been received. That will be released on the morning of April 6 on the museum’s website and on the tribute website.
