Standings getting crowded at the Scotties

The standings are starting to get much tighter at the provincial Scotties womens curling championship in Humboldt.

After suffering their first defeat of the tournament the Robyn Silvernagle rink had a 5-1 record after Thursday's action, the same record as the Amber Holland rink. The Anderson and Streifel rinks are 4-2, the Just team 4-3 and Eberle 3-3, followed by Barker 2-4, Howard 1-5 and Mitchell 0-7.

In action yesterday the Holland team defeated Silvernagle 9-4 on Thursday to hand Silvernagle their first defeat. The Holland team broke a 4-4 tie by scoring two in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Silvernagle rebounded in the 7:30 pm game defeating Ashley Howard 8-2. They scored two in the sixth and three in the seventh to force Howard to concede early.   

Friday afternoon the Silvernagle team moved back into first place with a 6-1 record, coming from behind to defeat Chantelle Eberle 9-8. Silvernagle was down 5-0 early on and were trailing 8-6 going into the final tenth end, but scored three in that end for the win.

Later Friday, Silvenagle faces Kristen Streifel at 6:30 pm to wrap up the round-robin portion. Playoffs begin Saturday.
