Two people arrested by the North Battleford RCMP gang unit had more appearances in North Battleford Provincial Court.

Shynia Skeavington, 24, and Rae Ahenakew, 40, both of Mosquito First Nation, had appearances on Jan. 11 and Jan. 12 respectively. Ahenakew was scheduled to enter a plea and Skeavington was supposed to elect how she wants to be tried. Both matters, however, were adjourned.

Skeavington and Ahenakew, along with Desiree Hinse, 24, and Matthew Greer, 34, both from Biggar, were arrested on Sept. 2, 2020, after police say they observed people in parked vehicles “interacting” with one another. Police also noticed weapons in one of the vehicles and said one person was known to have an outstanding arrest warrant. When police searched one of the vehicles they found a firearm, weapons, a Taser, quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana.

Greer is scheduled to enter a plea in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 25, 2021. On Jan. 26, Skeavington is scheduled to elect how she wants to be tried. Ahenakew appears next on Feb. 1.
