Two trials set for Onion Lake man facing weapons and assault charges

Two trials have been set for an Onion Lake man facing numerous charges in two separate incidents.

Trials for Lane Ryder Pahtayken, 23, are set in Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 7 and Sept. 15.

His first trial will deal with charges of assault, two counts of intentionally discharging a firearm, four firearms-related charges, obstruction of a peace officer, fraud, being at large, operating a vehicle while being pursued by police and failing to stop, dangerous driving, theft of a vehicle, failing to report to probation officer, failing to appear in court, two counts of failing to comply with a 24-hour curfew, two counts of failing to comply with conditions not to possess or consume alcohol, two counts of mischief, failing to comply with conditions to carry identification, failing to comply with conditions to keep the peace, failing to comply with conditions not to carry a firearm, and two counts of failing to comply with conditions not to be in driver’s seat of a vehicle.

Pahtaken faces these charged after an alleged incident on Onion Lake where a firearm was discharged inside a home on April 10. Gerome Christopher Okemow, 20, from Onion Lake, was also arrested in connection with that incident.  Okemow is charged with five firearms-related offences, flight from a peace officer, dangerous driving, theft of a truck, mischief over $5,000, and damage to property.

The charges against the two haven’t been proven in court.

Okemow was denied bail in April.

Pahtayken had a show cause hearing on May 27 in Lloydminster Provincial Court and was denied bail.

Pahtayken’s Sept. 15 trial will be on charges of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, impaired driving, driving while over .08, driving while prohibited, driving while being pursued by a peace officer, and failing to appear in court.
