UPDATE: Body of missing 22-year-old found

JUNE 20 - on June 19, 2015 at approximately 6:25 p.m., RCMP searchers located the body of Danielle Nyland in a wooded area approximately 500 metres south of where her cell phone was located east of Shellbrook.

An autopsy has been ordered and is scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

BACKGROUND

JUNE 19 - The investigation into the disappearance of Danielle Nyland is continuing.  The investigation is being conducted by RCMP Major Crime Unit North with assistance from several units including General Investigation Sections from Prince Albert, North Battleford, Yorkton, and Saskatoon, as well as members from RCMP Major Crime South out of Regina. 

Comprehensive search efforts have taken place over the past week and have included support units such as “F” Division RCMP Air Services, civilian and RCMP Search and Rescue teams, Tactical Troop, Police Dog Service, and the Underwater Recovery Team. 

The RCMP has received tips from the public and are still urging anyone with information to come forward with possible sightings of suspicious persons/vehicles in the Shellbrook, Holbein, and Canwood areas on the morning of June 8, 2015.  This may include information relating to persons found walking in rural areas or suspicious/erratic driving of vehicles. 

The RCMP is also requesting the public who live in or frequent these areas to check their property and any outbuildings or trail cameras. Those that will be out in the area through the weekend hiking, camping or on ATV’s are asked to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to police.

JUNE 15 - The RCMP are continuing their missing person investigation into the whereabouts of 22-year-old Danielle Nyland of Prince Albert and say they are concerned for her safety.

Coordinated searches have taken place in areas around Shellbrook and are continuing with assistance from civilian and police search and rescue.  Police are continuing their efforts to identify and locate friends and family who had contact with Danielle leading up to her disappearance  June 8,.
 
Police would like to speak with Raymond Knife of Prince Albert. It is believed he may have information about Danielle that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
 
Police are also asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a white pick-up truck, possibly a Dodge, that may have been stolen from the Prince Albert or Shellbrook area.  The owner of the vehicle may not know it has been stolen and police are asking anyone with a similar vehicle to check on its status and report any theft to police.  Similarly, should a vehicle matching that description be located abandoned, the public is asked to notify police immediately.
 
Anyone with information about Danielle’s current whereabouts or the whereabouts of Raymond Knife, is urged to contact police at 1-306-747-2606 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

JUNE 11 - The Shellbrook RCMP are asking for the public's help in locating 22 year old Danielle Nyland.

Further investigation has revealed that Danielle attended a social gathering in the east Flats area of Prince Albert in the early hours of June 8. She was then seen in the Shellbrook area on Monday, June 8 at approximately 7:30 a.m. Danielle’s cell phone was located by home owners at the end of the driveway to their residence approximately 9.5 kilometers east of Shellbrook and reported to police.
It has not been confirmed, but she may have last been wearing a white jacket, black leggings and a black tank top with a pattern on it.
Danielle was reported missing by family on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 around noon. Investigation thus far has failed to locate her. She has had no banking or social media activity since she was reported missing. Danielle has had no contact with friends or family which is not typical.
