Update - La Ronge shooting determined to be homicide/attempted murder

Saskatchewan RCMP is investigating the circumstances leading to the death of 26-year-old Jeremy Bird. Bird was the victim of the shooting that occurred on Nov. 21 on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. The autopsy that was conducted last week determined his death to be a homicide.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., on Nov. 21, several shots were fired into a camper/motorhome parked next to a residence on Mikisiw Drive, containing five males, including Bird.

Saskatchewan RCMP is looking for assistance from the public who may have been in the area of the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre or Mikisiw Drive on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band on the evening of Nov. 20 to the early morning of Nov. 21.

Police continue to speak with people on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and nearby communities of Air Ronge and La Ronge. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit North continue to investigate with assistance from Prince Albert Forensic Identification Services, La Ronge RCMP and Saskatchewan Digital Forensic Services Unit.
