Update: RCMP locate two suspects in stabbing

Update 2: On Jan. 14, at approximately 1:30 p.m., 31-year-old Ashley Badger was located by Prince Albert RCMP, during a traffic stop on Highway 2 north of Prince Albert, and was arrested without incident.

Ashley Badger is scheduled to appear in court in Prince Albert on Jan. 18. She is charged with: theft of motor vehicle; break and enter into residence and commit an indictable offence therein; robbery; failure to comply to release order.

The investigation is ongoing.

Update 1: On Dec. 20, 39-year-old Welsey Naytowhow was located by Prince Albert RCMP, inside a vehicle with another occupant, travelling east on the north side grid between Little Red River First Nation and Highway 2.

Naytowhow and the occupant of the vehicle were arrested without incident and taken into police custody for further investigation. 

The vehicle in which Naytowhow was located, is not the same vehicle he was reported to be travelling in as stated in a media release issued on Dec. 17. The white Chevrolet Impala with Saskatchewan license plate 568 LNW was located abandoned on Friday, Dec. 18, on the Little Red River First Nation.

Wesley Naytowhow is scheduled to appear in court in Prince Albert for a show cause hearing on Dec. 23 to face the following charges: theft of motor vehicle contrary; break and enter into residence and commit an indictable offence therein; robbery; aggravated assault; uttering death threats.

Police continue to work diligently to locate 31-year-old Ashley Badger who is known to frequent Sturgeon Lake First Nation and Little Red River First Nation. She is described as being approximately 5’5” tall and weighs 165 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.

Background: On Dec. 16, at approximately 2 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a 37-year-old male victim who was allegedly stabbed at a residence on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation.

Prince Albert RCMP attended to the residence along with officers from the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team and RCMP Police Dog Services.

Initial investigation by police revealed a 39-year-old male and a 31-year old female first arrived at the residence in a white Monte Carlo. The male entered the residence and assaulted the victim while the female waited inside the car. After the assault, the male stole the victim’s vehicle, a white Chevrolet Impala with Saskatchewan license plate 568 LNW, and fled the scene. The female fled the scene in the Monte Carlo.

The victim was transported by STARS air ambulance to a hospital in Saskatoon for what were reported to be serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The victim was released from the hospital on December 17, 2020. 

The 39-year-old male has been identified by police as being Welsey Naytowhow. He is described as being approximately 5’8” tall, weighing 140 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.

Welsey Naytowhow is facing the following charges in relation to this investigation: theft of motor vehicle; break and enter into residence and commit an indictable offence therein; robbery; aggravated assault; and uttering death threats.

The 31-year-old female has been identified by police as being Ashley Badger. She is described as being approximately 5’5” tall and weighs 165 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.

Ashley Badger is facing the following charges in relation to this investigation: theft of motor vehicle; break and enter into residence and commit an indictable offence therein; robbery; and failure to comply to release order.

Officers are working diligently to locate Wesley Naytowhow and Ashley Badger and have conducted several neighbourhood checks and rural road patrols on both the Sturgeon Lake First Nation and Little Red River First Nation where the two are known to frequent.
