Battlefords RCMP were alerted at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to the arrival of a woman at Battlefords Union Hospital who appeared to have a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police say their investigation identified a vehicle that was associated with this incident and it was located a short time later.
According to police, the vehicle then fled and two individuals inside eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended by police.
Police say these two persons will remain in custody as the investigation continues. A loaded firearm was recovered from the suspect vehicle.
Police also report that the wound suffered by the female victim was serious, but medical staff have stabilized her condition.
