Youth charged with murder in Ile a la Crosse

RCMP are reporting that a 15-year-old youth has been arrested and charged with second degree murder. The charge is in connection to a stabbing death in Ile a la Crosse.

RCMP are reporting that a 15-year-old youth has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The charge is in connection to a stabbing death in Ile a la Crosse. Because the charge is under the Youth Criiminal Justice Act the name cannot be released.

On Feb.10 at around 3 a.m., RCMP officers were called to a residence on Elbow Crescent in Ile a la Crosse on a report that an adult male had allegedly been stabbed.

According to the RCMP news release, EMS and police arrived to find witnesses performing life-saving measures on 46-year-old Cameron Roy. Mr. Roy was declared dead at the scene.

A short time later, the youth suspect was arrested without incident and taken into custody. According to police, the youth and the victim are known to each other.

The Provincial RCMP General Investigation Section, RCMP Forensic Identification Sections from North Battleford and Prince Albert, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are all involved with the investigation.

The youth suspect is in custody and makes his next court appearance Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
