The Battle River Settlement Association has been dissolved as of March 23, 2021, and it was up to town council Monday to decide what to do with its remaining funds.
The town intends to follow a recommendation from the association, which recommended most of the funds should go to the Battleford Community Spirit Group. That is the local group of volunteers involved in promoting community spirit in the town.
The indication is that council agrees with the recommendation and wants to see the funds go to the Community Spirit Group in their entirety. A motion to that effect will come back to town council at a later meeting.
A separate motion to split up the funds among several groups was defeated at Monday’s meeting.
