It appears town residents don’t need to worry anymore about being terrorized by the “Battleford Badger”.

The animal made news in September when it was roaming around the streets, parks and yards of Battleford, making appearances around the community in various locations and even being captured on Facebook video.

But it seems the badger has moved on. At a town council meeting Monday, Public Safety Officer Ross MacAngus was asked by Councillor Judy Pruden if they had found the badger and MacAngus responded, “He had finally moved away, let’s put it that way.”

“He was all over the town, I know that, and I’m positive it was the same one,” said MacAngus.

Mayor Ames Leslie noted the critter had caused a media sensation. Leslie said CBC and outlets across western Canada had called him asking for interviews about the badger.

“It must have been a slow news day in the news world,” said Leslie.
