The Town of Battleford is cracking down on nuisance yards.
These are yards with neglected alleys and laneways, as well as an accumulation of junked vehicles. Administration made clear they want to take a more aggressive approach to the problem beyond their existing resources.
The issue came up for discussion at Monday’s council meeting, at which time a decision was made to go with a third-party contractor.
The town has appointed K & D Partnership to remediate nuisance yards for two years, ending Dec. 31 2021. The cost of nuisance yard remediation is charged back to the landowner. The appointment was approved unanimously.
