Battleford seeking to send effluent to NB

From new cannabis facility
Battleford Town Hall

Town council in Battleford will soon be approaching North Battleford to see if they will accept effluent from Thunderchild-Decibel Cannabis Company’s new facility located on the outskirts of town.

Council passed a resolution Monday where the town will ask the council of City of North Battleford to accept effluent from the cannabis facility until such time as their new lagoon is completed and the sewer main completed and linked to the lagoon.

According to Mayor Ames Leslie, the effluent is too strong for the town’s current facility, and the new lagoon is to be enlarged this summer. There are no financial implications with the move.

“This needs to be done,” said town Chief Administrative Officer John Enns-Wind. His understanding was that they will be ready to dump their effluent by the beginning of May. The indication from the town is the effluent would come back to their facility in Battleford before the end of the year.
