The City of North Battleford has announced the boat launch is closed effective immediately.
It is due to the high water levels and additional debris in the river as well as rapid currents. According to the city's news release, people are being urged to avoid the North Saskatchewan riverbanks until the water recedes, as rapid erosion poses a risk of sudden riverbank collapse.
According to the city the closure will remain in effect until conditions are deemed safe by the city's Director of Protective Services/Fire Chief Lindsay Holm.
