City council in North Battleford has given its approval to a request for a reduced deposit for a developer looking to build five separate duplex projects.

Administration has been approached by Primeau Consulting who have identified five inner-city lots that are being sold by the City of North Battleford. According to a city memo the firm is working with local First Nation groups to develop low income housing in the City and a funding request has been submitted to Sask Housing; that request has already received conditional approval.

Primeau has agreed to pay full asking price for the lots, but sought a reduction in the deposit from $3,000 down to $1,000 per lot and fully refundable if the project does not proceed within 12 months.

Council approved the request at Monday’s meeting.
