Mayor Ryan Bater and representatives from the North Battleford Community Safety Officers Association signed a new collective bargaining agreement at City Hall Tuesday.

Special constables Barry Adams, Jamie Gabriel and Jerry Koliniak signed the agreement on behalf of the union while Bater signed on behalf of the city. The signing took place during the city’s regular council meeting.

This was the first collective agreement signed between the city and the newly-formed union. It is a three-year deal covering the period from Jan. 1, 2018, to Dec. 31, 2020.

Both sides seemed pleased to see the process come to a conclusion with the signing .

“It’s been a long arduous road to get to this point, but we’re certainly all glad that we have,” Adams said prior to the signing.

“Both the CSOs and management learned through the process, learned a lot about each other.” said City Manager Randy Patrick. He said he “really appreciated the efforts of both bargaining teams” to make it happen.
