City Hall issues update on capital works projects

The City of North Battleford has released its latest update on its capital works projects for the summer of 2020, with the latest news of their progress.

The City of North Battleford has released its latest update on its capital works projects for the summer of 2020, with the latest news of their progress.

Here is a rundown of what is happening:

100th Street 12th to 14th Avenue:

Underground utility work is complete, with drinking water advisories in place until the new mains are tested and commissioned. Roadway reconstruction work is underway with the project to be completed Sept. 26. The 1200 and 1300 blocks of 100th Street will be closed to traffic, but pedestrian access to businesses will remain open from the back alley. Downtown businesses will remain open with alternative access in place.  

Motorists are encouraged to use Territorial Drive as an alternate route, and to avoid traffic congestion on local roads around downtown while the work is underway. The underground work is by Sanburn Construction, roadways by G&C Asphalt.

95th Street 15th to 16th Avenue:

Underground utilities work is planned for Aug. 24 to Sept. 4 along 95th Street from 15th to 16th Avenue. Road closures, water service disruptions, and drinking water advisories will be in place. Roadway restoration will follow the underground work and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30. The underground work is by Sanburn Construction, roadways by G&C Asphalt.

110th Street 8th to 9th Avenue:

Underground and Roadway work is complete and the street is open to traffic.

101st Street 19th to 20th Avenue:

Underground Utility work is planned for Aug. 10 to 21 along 101st Street from 19th to 20th Avenue. Road closures, water service disruptions, and drinking water advisories will be in place. Roadway restoration will follow the underground work and is to be done by Sept. 12. The underground work is by Sanburn Construction, roadways by G&C Asphalt.

Carlton Trail / Yellow Sky Drive Improvements:

Underground Utility work is done and roadway work is underway. Road closures and lane restrictions are place as work proceeds. Roadway construction is to be done by Aug. 15.

According to the city, work includes constructing a centre median along Carlton Trail to prohibit left turns and through north-south movements at the intersection with Frontier Way, as well as construction of a new signalized full movement intersection at Yellow Sky Drive, and extension of Yellow Sky Drive to the north.

100th Street Service north of 20th Avenue Road Rehabilitation:

Underground utility work is planned for Sept. 8 to 25 along the 100th Street Service Road North of 20th Avenue. Road closures, water service disruptions, and drinking water advisories will be in place. Roadway restoration will follow the underground work, it is expected to be done by Oct. 31. Again, underground work is by Sanburn Construction, and roadways by G&C Asphalt.

Community Airport Partnership runway resurfacing:

The final phase of the multi year runway rehab project is now finished and the runway is open to air traffic. Runway resurfacing work was performed by G&C Asphalt.
