The first meeting of the newly-formed City of North Battleford Sask. Lotteries Community Grant Adjudication Committee is in the books.

They met April 29 at Don Ross Centre. The committee replaces the old Leisure Services committee, with meetings to be held on a quarterly basis.

Councillor Don Buglas and Councillor Kelli Hawtin were council’s representatives, with Buglas chairing the meeting. Four members-at-large and two representatives from area high schools were also present.

At council Monday, Hawtin reported it was a good first meeting, with the room filled with representatives from community organizations making grant applications.

“It was such an energetic room to have that many people together,” said Hawtin. She noted some delegates stayed to the end because they were “energized hearing about all the positive things going on in the community.”
