The City of North Battleford is moving ahead with plans to get work done on the Highway 16 service road in front of Frontier Centre mall.

Council has voted in favour of awarding the winning bid to G & C Asphalt in the amount of $65,000 plus taxes, towards the partial reconstruction of that road. G & C Asphalt was one of two bidders for the project, the other being K & S Asphalt. Both bids were within the $75,000 that had been budgeted for the project in the 2019 budget.

According to Director of City Operations Stewart Schafer, the intent of the request for proposals is to repair the road surface. The work would take place on the road from the second entrance in front of Frontier Mall all the way to in front of Gold Eagle Lodge. Schafer told council the resurfacing is expected to last five to seven years.

While City Hall has been trying to get provincial help for the eroding service road alongside the mall, so far it seems no dollars are forthcoming.
