The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is alerting the public of an increase in COVID-19 activity in Yorkton and area including the RMS of Orkney (244), Fertile Belt (183) and Saltcoats (213) and is urging Saskatchewan residents to follow public health measures and personal safety precautions to prevent the spread of the virus, including maintaining a physical distance of two metres from others and masking when that's not possible, frequent hand hygiene and self-isolating if you develop any symptoms of COVID-19.

In order to keep everyone in SHA facilities and care homes safe during this time, family presence/visitation is being limited in to compassionate reasons only in the following: 

Hospitals: Yorkton Regional Health Centre St. Anthony’s Hospital- Esterhazy 

Long term care (LTC) homes: Langenberg Health Care Complex- LTC, Lakeside Manor Care Home –Saltcoats, Centennial Special Care Home- Esterhazy 

The decision to restrict family presence is not taken lightly. These measures are in place to keep you, your loved ones, and health care workers safe.  The Saskatchewan Health Authority is asking the public for their support and cooperation in order to contain the spread of the virus.

COVID-19 outbreak declared at Yorkton Regional Health Centre

Sept. 28, 2020 - The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is advising of a cluster of COVID-19 cases in the Yorkton area and has declared an outbreak in the Yorkton Regional Health Centre as of September 27, 2020. The source of the outbreak in the hospital appears to be community transmission. Seventeen cases have been identified in the community including three health care workers in the facility. All health care workers who have been identified as close contacts with the confirmed cases are being tested as the contact investigation continues.

The health and safety of patients and the employees who care for them is of utmost importance to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and keeping the people it serves and employees and physicians healthy and safe is paramount to the work they do each and every day.

Services remain available at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre and the public is reminded to access services at Yorkton Regional Health Centre when required.

Yorkton RCMP exposure

On Sept. 27, a front-line officer at the Yorkton RCMP Detachment tested positive for COVID-19. The officer immediately self-isolated as per the direction of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). The officer will continue to follow the direction of the SHA and remain in self-isolation until the officer is cleared by local health authorities.

All employees who have been in close contact with the officer – 14 officers and six civilian employees – are currently under mandatory self-isolation as directed by the SHA and are being tested for COVID-19. Medical history is considered private information under the Privacy Act of Canada, which protects all Canadians from having their personal information made public. To respect our employees' right to privacy, we will not be identifying them publicly or providing ongoing health updates.

Based on the recommendation of the SHA, the Yorkton RCMP Detachment will temporarily close its doors to the general public for non-emergency matters for two weeks starting on Monday, Sept. 28, until Monday, Oct. 12. The decision was made in consultation with the SHA to support the health of the public and our frontline officers.

​Parkridge Centre visitor limitations in place due to COVID-19

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is alerting the public of a COVID-19 case in Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon and is urging Saskatchewan residents to follow public health measures and personal safety precautions to prevent the spread of the virus, including physical distancing of two metres, frequent hand hygiene and self-isolating if you develop any symptoms of COVID-19.
