It’s been confirmed that the fall festival slated for downtown North Battleford will not go ahead this Saturday.

The annual outdoor event, which usually includes sidewalk sales and classic cars, is organized by the downtown BID. They confirmed the postponement on their Facebook page.

The reason the event is not going ahead is because autumn itself is a no go. Summer weather has suddenly given way to winter in North Battleford, with the Battlefords hit by snow Sunday night.

The news was shared at planning committee Monday by Councillor Greg Lightfoot. He said that due to inclement weather predicted for the weekend, with rain and temperatures dipping into the minus range, it “didn’t look like it was a viable event.”

The intention now is to try to hold something in the spring, Lightfoot said.
