Individual facing firearms charges makes first court appearance

An individual charged with several weapons-related charges in North Battleford from Aug. 22 made his first court appearance Monday in North Battleford provincial court.

Jamie Musqua is charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm when prohibited, possession of guns dangerous to public peace, possession of weapons (bear spray) dangerous to public peace, unlawful storage of a loaded rifle, possession of a restricted weapon without holding a licence, proceeds obtained by commission of an offence, two counts of possession property obtained by commission of an offences, three failures to comply with undertakings, and earlier charges including assault and breach of recognizance.

The Crown has opposed Musqua’s release. Musqua appeared in court in the prisoner’s box and vocally expressed his displeasure to Judge Lorna Dyck.

“You guys are doing a really good job of destroying my life!” he said.

Musqua is remanded in custody. He is due to appear again in North Battleford court for a possible bail hearing Wednesday, Aug. 28.
