After serving his first term on City of North Battleford Council, Councillor Kent Lindgren seeks a second term on Nov. 9.

In an announcement issued Tuesday evening, Lindgren said he has a firm belief in local challenges and issues being dealt with through community created solutions. Through his career and extensive local volunteerism, Lindgren strives to address critical underlying problems in the community such as health care, food security, gender equity, Indigenous relations through reconciliation, and supportive housing.

As someone who has spent his working life trying to address issues by looking at the root causes, Lindgren said he is committed to tackling the unique concerns that we face in North Battleford.

Born and raised in North Battleford, he is currently working for the Battlefords Family Health Centre and sits on the boards for Canadian Mental Health Association Battlefords, Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts, Destination Battlefords and Table Mountain Regional Park.

“Until we address the reasons we have our challenges, we will never be able to make the instrumental changes and create solutions as needed,” said Lindgren in his statement.

“I am running for a second term on council, because we have accomplished much in the last four years, but there is more to be done.”

Those accomplishments, he said, include the permanent flying of the Treaty 6 Flag at City Hall, working more closely with regional and Indigenous governments and ensuring financial stability through a pandemic.
