Mayoral candidate Lois Laing has extended her congratulations to Mayor-elect David Gillan and the other winners in the election in North Battleford.
In a statement posted on her Facebook campaign page, Laing also thanked the residents of North Battleford. Laing placed a distant third in the mayor’s race on Monday, well behind Gillan and incumbent Ryan Bater.
Her statement reads as follows:
“I would like to thank the people of North Battleford for the support and encouragement. While tonight was not the result we had hoped for, we are still hopeful for the future and for the change our city needs so badly. We must become a city of hope once again, a city of healthy people again, a city of prosperous people again! Tomorrow the work begins and I will be here to support that work with our new mayor, David Gillan, and all the amazing people who have been elected tonight as councillors. Congrats to all those elected this evening and their families and campaigns. Also, thank you and congratulations to all those who weren’t successful tonight, it is a wonderful thing to care for our community enough to step up amd step forward to serve publicly.
“Finally, I would like to thank my husband, Meril Laing and all my family and volunteers that supported my campaign. Most of all, to all the residents and voters of North Battleford. (A) wise man once said, ‘The voters are never wrong.’ The winners tonight are the people of North Battleford.”
