The town of Battleford have received a number of letters of objection in response to their notice of an upcoming vote to de-designate heritage status for St. Vital Church.

The letters of objection were noted at the town’s council meeting Monday.

One came from the Battlefords North West Historical Society, as had been reported earlier. The other came from Larry Romanow, whose letter was along similar lines in stating “our heritage is what we value from the past and what we preserve for future generations.”

There was also word a third letter of objection was received after the council package was prepared: that will come up at the next meeting. The vote on de-designation of St. Vital Church is currently slated for the April 20 meeting.
