Lloyd Mall evacuated due to bomb scare

Police and first responders have been on the scene Friday morning responding to a bomb threat at the Lloyd Mall in Lloydminster, Alta.

RCMP Alberta tweeted that “#LloydminsterRCMP responded to a bomb threat at Lloyd mall in #Lloydminster. The mall has been evacuated as a precaution. Please stay away from the area.”

Police reported that at 10:15 a.m. Friday the RCMP responded to a bomb threat at the mall. They also reported that as a precaution the mall was being evacuated while police continued to investigate the threat.  

Nearby St. Mary’s School in Lloydminster had tweeted they were keeping all students inside and all doors were locked.

However, around 1:48 p.m. the school reported on Facebook that they were informed by RCMP that it had been a false bomb threat at the mall.

“Our day continues as normal,” they stated.
