A group of 10 North Battleford residents, plus one from Gronlid, made the long trip to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in Calgary to help inspect gift-filled shoeboxes before they are sent to children in Central America and west Africa. It’s the 11th year that leader Mona Bruynooghe has led a group making the seven-hour drive to volunteer with Operation Christmas Child. “It’s about the kids in these countries who have nothing; these shoeboxes can give them hope,” said Mona, explaining her involvement in the program. Battleford residents can still help children by packing shoeboxes with school supplies, hygiene items and toys. Just visit www.PackaBox.ca and do it online from the comfort of home. Photo submitted
