Sylvie Kellington, a resident of Humboldt who has a son who played for the Broncos Bantam A team this past season started a GoFundMe page soon after learning the Humboldt Broncos Junior A team was involved in a serious bus accident.

There were 15 fatalities confirmed out of the 29 passengers.

Kelllington asks, “Please help us raise money for the players and families affected. Money will go directly to families to help with any expenses incurred.”

What started out with a $100,000 goal was quickly met and tripled, and with word that the fatalities were 14, now 15, Kellington upped the goal. Donations are now in excess of $5 million, as of Monday morning.

Kellington stated she and the staff of GoFundMe are in direct contact with the vice president of the Humboldt Broncos, and plans are underway to move money raised.

“Additionally,” states Kellington, “WestJet is offering help to Broncos hockey family members who need assistance getting to Saskatoon by plane:  https://bit.ly/2H2oDJT

“Thank you so much to everyone for your generosity and words of love and support. I will be passing everything on to team management.”
