The Saskatchewan Rush continue to announce player signings with two more players agreeing to contracts with the club.
Forward Austin Murphy has agreed to new one-year contract with the Rush, pending league approval, in a deal announced by Rush General Manager Derek Keenan.
Murphy is a fourth-round pick back in 2017 but didn’t get into a regular-season NLL game until last season, registering two goals and two assists in three games last season.
“When Austin finally cracked the Rush lineup in the shortened 2020 season, I think he proved he belongs in the NLL,” said Keenan in a news release. “He’s a gritty, quick forward with a nice touch around the net.”
The Rush have also signed defender Holden Garlent to a one-year deal. He was selected 4th overall by the Rush in the 2019 entry draft and had one goal and one assist in 10 games during 2020.
"When I think of all the great D-transition players who have worn the Rush uniform over the years, I look at Holden Garlent as a player who has the potential to fit that mold,” Keenan said. “He's fast, strong and athletic with really good instincts. He's a loose ball hound and makes good decisions in transition and has shown some finish. I look forward to watching his continuing development and to making an impact this coming season."
