The name for this neighbourhood is a play on words. R.E. Deans was the Mayor of North Battleford from 1940-46 and, in part, the neighbourhood was named in his honour. The word “croft” was a common used term at that time, which meant a “wonderful place to be.” Therefore, the name translates to “Dean’s wonderful place to be.”
Deanscroft is on the east side of the city, north of Yellow Sky, which used to be called the southeast quadrant.
