New QB judge appointed for Battleford

The federal Department of Justice has announced in a news release that Brenda R. Hildebrandt, Q.C., has been appointed judge of Court of Queen’s Bench, Battleford.

Hildebrandt holds an LL.B. from the University of Saskatchewan attained in 1983 and an LL.M. in health law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2011.

She was called to the bar in 1984 after articling with Gauley & Co. in Saskatoon. She spent 13 years there working in health law and civil litigation, before moving to southeast Saskatchewan where she was a sole practitioner.

Hildebrandt has been a frequent bar admission course lecturer and also served on the board of Saskatchewan Legal Education Society Inc. (SKLESI), becoming president in 2003-04. She was a bencher and later president of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.

She also served as adjudicator appointed to hear Saskatchewan Employment Act appeals. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2004.

Hildebrandt is replacing Justice Gerald Allbright, who becomes a supernumerary judge.
