The 2018 campaign to provide safe rides home for holiday revelers in the Battlefords has launched.

Operation Red Nose is once again offering the service, starting Nov. 30 and running on weekends until the end of the year, including on New Year’s night Dec. 30/Jan. 1. The campaign launch took place Friday at Gold Eagle Casino.

This is the 10th year for Operation Red Nose in the Battlefords, which was the first Saskatchewan community to take part in the national campaign when it launched in 2009. While it is a free service, the nation campaign also raises money going to local youth sports organizations.

This year, KidSport is taking over the campaign in the Battlefords from the North Battleford Lion’s Club. KidSport will also be the recipient of funds that are raised by the campaign this year, as has been the case in previous years.

According to Bill Bowman, last year 35 volunteers provided 255 rides home while raising $4,689 in donations. There were also 92 corporate sponsors who donated $9,015, plus an additional $13,200 in in-kind donations.

Those interested in volunteering this year can call Bill Bowman at 306-481-3881 or 306-445-8730, or David Schell at 306-937-5005.
