It is confirmed that the Repair Café event is a go for Oct. 26.

It is an effort by the Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council to fix items at various locations in the province as an alternative to tossing those items.

According to promotional material from the organization, items fixed could include CD players that no longer open, a toaster that doesn’t work or a shirt with missing buttons.

People are encouraged to bring their broken items and receive free repairs, watch and learn from local experts and enjoy free coffee and tea with neighbours. Items repaired include clothes, furniture, electrical items, toys, bicycles and others.

The location of the Repair Café is the North Battleford Library, 1392-101st Street North Battleford on Oct. 26 for one day only, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The event coincides with Waste Reduction Week in Canada. More information can be found at repaircafe.org.
