Red Pheasant Cree Nation has issued a notice that a mandatory community road block will take effect midnight Friday, March 27. The road block, according to the notice, in an attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Red Pheasant Cree Nation has issued a notice that a mandatory community road block will take effect midnight Friday, March 27.

The road block, according to the notice, in an attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is “to ensure the “health and safety of our community members (especially the elders and those in poor health),” the notice stated.

What it means is that only Red Pheasant band members are allowed in and out of the community. A road block at each entry into the community will be set up and enforced with security. No non-essential travel will be permitted. Proof of medically essential appointments is required. All community members are asked to practice self-isolation and avoid visiting from house to house. Those returning from extended leave from the community must self-isolate for 14 days. All members must self-monitor for symptoms like cough, fever, and shortness of breath. Essential service personnel suchj as health, CFS, RCMP and essential supply deliveries will be exempt from this order.

Red Pheasant has also closed all offices until further notice as of March 22, but staff can be contacted by phone directly for inquiries and assistance.
