Sask. has fewest active COVID-19 cases in the west

As of Sunday, Saskatchewan had the lowest number of active cases in western Canada, despite a rise in new daily cases recently.

As of Sunday, Saskatchewan had the lowest number of active cases in western Canada, despite a rise in new daily cases recently.

With 140 active cases as of Sunday, Saskatchewan was lowest among British Columbia, 1,822, Alberta, 1,424, and Manitoba, 354.

Ontario and Quebec remained the highest at 3,054 and 2,944 respectively.

The three northern jurisdictions, Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut had no active cases as of Sunday, as did Nova Scotia, while Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island each had one active case.

Overall, Canada had 9,741 active cases as of Sunday.

Aside from the jurisdictions with 0 or one cases, Saskatchewan’s active cases were the lowest per capita at .01 per cent, based on StatsCan population estimates for 2019.

B.C. was .03 per cent, Alberta was the same and Manitoba was .02 per cent. Ontario was .02 per cent and Quebec was .03 per cent.
