Spiritwood RCMP investigates death of male on Little Shell Lake

On June 8, 2021 at approximately 6:10 a.m., Spiritwood RCMP received a complaint of a missing 59-year-old male. The male and a family member were boating on Little Shell Lake the evening of June 7 when their boat overturned.

On June 8, 2021 at approximately 6:10 a.m., Spiritwood RCMP received a complaint of a missing 59-year-old male. 

The male and a family member were boating on Little Shell Lake the evening of June 7 when their boat overturned. Both men attempted to swim to shore. The family member made it to shore safely, but lost sight of the missing man. The family member walked all night through the bush to return to their campsite to call for help. 

Spiritwood and Blaine Lake RCMP officers, along with Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services, began searching both the water and shore near where the boat capsized. Officers recovered the body of the male, who is from Spiritwood, in the water at approximately 9 a.m. on June 8. His next of kin have been notified.
