SaskTel has announced that contract talks between SaskTel with Unifor, as well as between Directwest and Unifor, have reached an impasse and that Unifor will commence a strike Friday, Oct. 4.

According to a news release from SaskTel Oct. 3, contract negotiations have been ongoing since Jan. 29 of this year when initial proposals were exchanged. A conciliator was appointed and bargaining continued until Sept. 26, 2019, with no tentative agreement reached.

SaskTel states that it will “make every effort to minimize the impact of a labour disruption to our customers by having our management team maintain services.
