There is uncertainty over whether the Capitol Annex can stay open following the recent announcement by the province of new restrictions.

The provincial health restrictions announced Wednesday, which take effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday Nov. 27, cap cinema attendance at 30 people but also restrict bringing food into the cinemas. Under the new restrictions snack bars can be open but only for take-out or for consumption in the lobby, not the cinema itself.

No final decisions have been announced yet as to whether Magic Lantern Theatres will keep the Capitol open in the face of the new restrictions. The Capitol Theatre has issued the following statement on Facebook today:

“Hey everyone - with the new Covid restrictions that came in yesterday and more today we are waiting from our head office to see what's gonna happen next. Once we know we will let you know. Thank you for your patience and understanding and we will talk again soon.”
