A walk is planned for Canada Day July 1 in memor of the children who attended residential schools..

Cheryl Tootoosis has confirmed to the News-Optimist there will be an honour ride/walk from Delmas, the site of the former St. Henri residential school, to Battleford starting at 9 a.m. in the morning.

The walk will honor the children who didn’t make it home, the survivors, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls as well as those hanged at Fort Battleford in 1885.

Riding on horses will be Edwin Tootoosis (a residential school survivor who attended Delmas), his son Tyler Tootoosis, and one of his granddaughters Rae Tootoosis. Others will be following behind them on foot on in trucks.
