North Battleford man appears in court on second-degree murder charges

A North Battleford man charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of a 22-year-old woman had his court case adjourned. Keenan Mirasty, 21, appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court April 8 for a show cause hearing.

A North Battleford man charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of a 22-year-old woman had his court case adjourned.

Keenan Mirasty, 21, appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court April 8 for a show cause hearing.

Mirasty has been in custody since he was arrested in March. According to RCMP, police received a request on March 8 to check on the wellbeing of Sequin Mooswa and they found her deceased in a home on the 1900 block of St. Laurent Drive.

North Battleford RCMP were assisted in their investigation by RCMP Major Crimes Unit Saskatchewan North, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the RCMP National Forensic Identification Support Services from Edmonton.  An autopsy was done in Saskatoon on March 9.

Mirasty made his first court appearance on March 10. Police didn’t say if they arrested him at the residence or on what day.

Mirasty is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court via CCTV on April 29 for a show cause hearing.
