Blaine Lake TOPS celebrated its 10th anniversary Dec. 6 with a catered supper and annual Christmas party.

The organization has been successfully providing support for its weight loss members, who commute from surrounding areas to participate in the program.

TOPS is an acronym for Take Off Pounds Sensibly and is a weight loss support group that understands the challenges of losing weight. TOPS meetings are held weekly in Blaine Lake in the Hoeppner Insurance Board Room Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m.

The evening begins with a confidential weigh-in process prior to the meeting. TOPS is a non-profit and non-commercial organization that does not sell, promote or endorse any products. The member's physician provides the individual with his/her eating and exercise plan. The TOPS chapter provides support, encouragement and educational opportunities to make healthy, permanent lifestyle changes. Members are not just supporters at meetings but also between meetings with cards, calls and a reassuring hand of friendship. All members and executive positions are held on a volunteer basis but share the common goal of weight loss which, with a support group, can be a fun and exciting process.

The Blaine Lake TOPS No. 5167 Chapter welcomes all individuals, whether male or female, to join. Let TOPS assist you with the moral support and encouragement that will lead you on a journey to better health and weight loss. Start the year off on a positive note and aim to self-improvement. More information can be obtained by visiting a meeting Tuesday evenings or by calling Chapter leader Angie at 497-3119.
