Rosetown first responder killed on highway

Members from the Rosetown RCMP, Rosetown and Biggar Fire Departments, and EMS from Rosetown were called to the scene of a collision between two semi trucks on Highway 4 approximately 14 miles north of Rosetown.

No one was injured in the collision between the two semis trucks.  Investigators have determined that one truck was entering Highway 4 from the west and turning north when it was struck by a southbound bound semi travelling on Highway #4.

 While first responders were on scene responding to the collision, a firefighter with the Rosetown Fire Department was struck by a passing semi truck while he was assisting at the scene.  Life saving efforts were made by his colleagues at the scene and he was transport to hospital in Rosetown, but he died a short time later.

46-year-old, Darrell James Morrison, a volunteer with the Rosetown Fire Department died this morning while responding to the call for assistance.  His family has been notified of his death.
