A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a North Battleford man charged in connection to the murder a 22-year-old woman earlier this year.

Keenan Mirasty, 22, is charged with second-degree murder for the death of Sequin Mooswa.

According to North Battleford RCMP, they found Mooswa’s body at a home in the 1900 block of St. Laurent Drive after receiving a request to do a wellness check on March 8, 2020.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit North, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the RCMP National Forensic Identification Support Services from Edmonton assisted the North Battleford RCMP with the investigation.

A preliminary hearing is held so the judge can determine if there is enough evidence for the accused to stand trial on the charges.

The hearing will be held Oct. 27 in North Battleford Provincial Court.
