RCMP charge man for trafficking drugs after stopping him for speeding near Maidstone

The Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit caught more than a speeder when they stopped an eastbound vehicle on Hwy 16 near Maidstone.

RCMP charged Chase Matthew Bagan, 26, with various drug-related charges after stopping him near Maidstone on March 21 for travelling at a high rate of speed.

While talking to Bagan, police believed that he was in possession of illegal drugs and searched the vehicle. In the vehicle, police say they found 848 grams of dried cannabis, 1,774 grams of cannabis edibles, 7 grams of psilocybin (magic mushrooms), $620 in Canadian currency and a can of bear spray.

Bagan was charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, possession of psilocybin, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

Bagan is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on June 9.

The charges haven’t been proven in court.
