A trial is set in Prince Albert Provincial Court for a man facing drug and weapons-related offences after he was arrested during a traffic stop.

Kevin Ackegan, 40, had an appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court July 27 to elect how he wants to be tried. The matter was adjourned for election at a later date but a trial was scheduled.

Ackegan was trying to get bail since his arrest but it was denied and a warrant of committal was issued on July 20.

The Prince Albert Police Integrated Crime Reduction Team arrested Ackegan on Feb. 26 after they searched his vehicle and found two firearms, ammunition, a machete, a knife, bear spray, hydromorphone, methamphetamine, and Gabapentin pills. They also found U.S., Jamaican and Canadian currency.

Ackegan’s trial is scheduled for Sept. 2 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
