Quick sale of post office needed

Now that Canada Post has officially announced it will not be moving its operations back into the historic 1914 building on 22nd Street in Battleford, the corporation needs to move quickly to sell the property.

It is well known  properties such as this go to seed rapidly when left vacant. The longer the vacancy lasts the greater the task of bringing the building back up to inhabitable condition.

While finding a new permanent location is obviously a priority for Canada Post, they should also be looking into the cost of a few loads of gravel for the parking lot of their current temporary location beside 35th Street. As Town of Battleford councillors noted this week, with spring coming Canada Post patrons are going to be doing their business in a mud hole.
